Goats and Azul Take Playoff Series Openers At Home

The Mexican Primera Division's Clausura Playoffs got under way on Wednesday as two two-games series in the quarterfinal round commenced.


At Zepopan, Mexico:


Omar Arellano Riveron (39'), Luis Michel (58'), and Marco Fabian De la Mora (PK-65') each tallied once as Chivas de Guadalajara took the measure of top-seeded Tigres 3-1 in the opening match of their two-game set at home.


At Mexico City:


Christian Gimenez scored twice (17', 45') as Cruz Azul overcame an early deficit and overtook visiting Atlante 2-1 in their series opener.
