CFU Club Championship: Tempete and Puerto Rico Islanders Win Way To Final (And Berths In CONCACAF Champions League Preliminary Round)

The semifinal round of the CFU (Caribbean Football Union) Club Championship took place on Wednesday with both contests taking place at Georgetown, Guyana.

In the opener, after 120 scoreless minutes, Junior Charles, Paul Valdano, Joachin Gregory, and Cadet Changler all converted their penalty kick attempts and Tempete FC (Haiti) won the shootout 4-2 over Defence Force FC (Trinidad and Tobago).

In the nightcap, with the score deadlocked at 1-1 following regulation time, Jonathan Fana (108') and David Foley (116') each scored an overtime goal as the Puerto Rico Islanders defeated Alpha United (Guyana) 3-1.

Temptete and the Islanders will play each other in the nightcap on Friday for the CFU Club Championship title.  Both clubs have qualified for the preliminary round of the 2011-12 CONCACAF Champions League.  Defence Force and Alpha United will square off in Georgetown in the opener for third place----and a spot in the Champions League's preliminary round.
