NOTES:

Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Valencia automatically qualified for the group stage of the 2011-12 UEFA Champions League while Villarreal will take part in the Champions League's playoff round.

To solve the three-way tie for fifth place, points gained in games played among Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, and Atletico Madrid was the first tie-breaker (Sevilla 7 points, Athletic Bilbao 6, Atletico Madrid 4).  Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao will take part in the playoff round for group stage berths in the 2011-12 Europa League while Atletico , as the seventh-place team (because Copa del Rey winners Real Madrid and runners-up Barcelona have qualified for the Champions League's group stage) will take part in the third qualifying round.

Deportivo La Coruna, Hercules, and Almeria were relegated to the Segunda Division.  Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano won automatic promotion to the top flight.  With Barcelona's B club finishing third, they were ineligible for promotion.  A playoff amongst the fourth-through-seventh-placed clubs (Granada, Elche, Celta de Vigo, and Valladolid) will take place in June to determine who would gain promotion to the Primera Division.
