MLS: Galaxy Overtake SKC; Hoops Blank Visiting Philly; Revs Top Caps; Quakes Sink Crew; Quartet Of Draws

Eight games were contested in Major League Soccer on Saturday.


At Toronto:


Marco Pappa (63') and Orr Barouch (75') provided the second-half scoring as the Chicago Fire erased a two-goal deficit to gain a 2-2 home draw with Toronto FC.  Joao Plata Cotera (9') and Maicon Santos (46') provided the scoring for TFC.


At Washington:


Chris Pontius' successful penalty kick in the 62nd minute salvaged a 1-1 home draw for DC United against the Colorado Rapids, whose goal came from Drew Moor at 23 minutes.


At Foxborough, Massachusetts:


Shalrie Joseph's penalty kick (49') provided all the scoring as the New England Revolution blanked the visiting (and struggling) Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0.


At Frisco, Texas:


Brek Shea (29') and Fabian Castillo (43') each delivered a goal as FC Dallas blanked the visiting Philadelphia Union 2-0.


At Sandy, Utah:


In their first match since losing Javier Morales for at least four months after breaking and dislocating his ankle in last week's 1-0 win over Chivas USA, Real Salt Lake were held to a 0-0 home stalemate by the Houston Dynamo.


At Carson, Califorina:


Landon Donovan scored twice (PK-44', 46') and Juan Pablo Angel (64') David Beckham (86') each added another score as the Los Angeles Galaxy overran visiting Sporting Kansas City 4-1.


At Santa Clara, California:


Chris Wondolowski (49'), Steven Lenhart (58' against his former team), and Khari Stephenson (62') each tallied once as the San Jose Earthquakes broke open what had been a scoreless stalemate at halftime and ended up overpowering the visiting Columbus Crew 3-0.


At Seattle:


In the inaugural MLS match between these two teams, Mamadou Danso's equalizer at 65 minutes lifted the Portland Timbers to a 1-1 road draw with the Seattle Sounders, whose goal came from Alvaro Fernandez in the 52nd minute.
