EURO 2012: 1-1 Draw For Poland And Greece; Russians Dominant Over Czechs

The 2012 European Championships commenced on Friday, with both Group A games played in Poland.


At Warsaw:

In a contest that saw both teams reduced to ten men, Dimitris Salpigidis' equalizer in the 51st minute carried Greece to a 1-1 stalemate with co-hosts Poland, whose goal came courtesy of Robert Lewandowski in the 17th minute.  The Greeks had a chance to take a late lead, but Poland goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyto (shown here) saved Girogos Karagounis' penalty kick in the 71st minute.
