MLS: DC United, Whitecaps, Impact, Dynamo, SKC, RSL Win On Saturday; Goose Eggs In Foxborough

Major League Soccer returned to full-blown action on Saturday with seven games.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Chris Pontius scored the only goal of the match in the 77th minute as high-flying DC United defeated the still-struggling Philadelphia Union 1-0 on the road, ruining John Hackworth's debut as the Union's interim head coach.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Sebastien Le Toux scored the only goal of the match in the 80th minute as the Vancouver Whitecaps, despite playing the final half-hour with only ten men, defeated the visiting Colorado Rapids 1-0.

At Houston:

Adam Moffat scored the winning goal in the 76th minute as the Houston Dynamo defeated visiting (and ten-man) FC Dallas 2-1.

At Montreal:

Felipe Martins Campanholi (17'), Justin Mapp (51'), Andrew Wenger (58'), and Lamar Neagle (87') each scored a goal as the Montreal Impact made it a triumphant opener at renovated  Saputo Stadium with a 4-1 domination of the ten-man Seattle Sounders.

At Foxborough, Massachusetts:

The contest between the New England Revolution and the visiting Columbus Crew ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

At Kansas City, Kansas:

C. J. Sapong (18') and Julio Santos Correa (35') each tallied once as Sporting Kansas City blanked visiting Toronto FC 2-0, spoiling John Mariner's debut as the Reds' new coach.

At Carson, California:

Fabian Espindola scored twice (40', 53') as Real Salt Lake dominated Chivas USA 3-0 on the road, stretching their unbeaten run to seven games while ending the Goats' six-match winning streak in all competitions.
