US Open Cup: All-MLS Semifinal Round

Four games were played on Tuesday as the quarterfinal round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament took place as three clubs from the third-division USL Pro League remained alive as action started.


At Chester, Pennsylvania:


Lionard Pajoy scored twice (29', PK-68') as the Philadelphia Union took care of the visiting Harrisburg City Islanders (USPL) 5-2.


At Kansas City, Kansas:


C. J. Sapong scored twice (4', 59') as Sporting Kansas City dominated the visiting Dayton Dutch Lions (USPL) 3-0.


At Fullerton, California:


Jose Erick Correa scored twice, scoring first in the 65th minute, then notching the winning goal deep into second-half stoppage time (90'+4) as Chivas USA defeated the visiting Charlotte Eagles (USPL) 2-1.


At San Francisco:


Cordell Cato scored the only goal of the match in the 19th minute as the Seattle Sounders, in the lone all-MLS contest, defeated the San Jose Earthquakes, who finished the game with ten men, 1-0.


On July 11, Chivas USA will travel to Tukwila, Washington to take on the Seattle Sounders while Sporting Kansas City will visit the Philadelphia Union the next day, with the winners to meet on August 7 or 8 for the title and a berth in the group stage of the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League.
