In a battle of North American Soccer League clubs, FC Edmonton held the hosts Ottawa Fury to a 0-0 game-one stalemate as the qualifying round of the Amway Canadian Championship commenced. The two clubs will play game two at Edmonton, Albert next Wednesday with the winner of this series advancing to take on the Montreal Impact from Major League Soccer in the semifinal round. The winner of this tournament would qualify for a berth in the group stage of the 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League.
