Europa League Semifinals: Benfica, Sevilla Take Series Openers

The semifinal round of the Europa League got under way on Thursday with the opening game of each of the two two-game series.

At Lisbon, Portugal:

Rodrigo Jose Lima dos Santos delivered the winning goal in the 84th minute as SL Benfica took the opening game of their series with Juventus 2-1 at home.  Ezequiel Garay opened the scoring for the Eagles in the second minute.  The well-traveled Carlos Tevez kept the visiting Old Lady alive in the series with his score in the 73rd minute.

At Seville, Spain:

In the opening match of a two-game all-Spanish semfinal series, Stephane M'Bia (33') and Carlos Bacca (36') delivered the goals as Sevilla blanked visiting Valencia 2-0.
