BOUBACAR BARRY SAVES COUNTERPART'S PK, THEN CONVERTS HIS OWN SPOT KICK TO LIFT ELEPHANTS TO FIRST ANC CROWN SINCE '92; TICKET PUNCHED FOR '17 CONFEDERATIONS CUP

At Bata, Equatorial Guinea:

After 120 scoreless minutes on Sunday, Ivory Coast claimed their first African Nations Cup since 1992 by winning the penalty-kick shootout 9-8 over Ghana.  In what proved to be the eleventh and final round of the shootout, Elephants goalkeeper Boubacar Barry (that's him being carried by an equally happy teammate) saved his Black Stars counterpart Brimah Razak's PK, then beat his opposite number on his own spot kick to lock up the victory for the Ivorians and a berth in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, due to be played in Russia.
