Copa Libertadores: Corinthians, Deportivo Tachira Advance To Group Stage

Two games were contested on Wednesday as the preliminary round for Copa Libertadores group-stage berths continued.

At Asuncion, Paraguay:

Gelmin Rivas scored twice in the second half (55', 61') as Deportivo Tachira gained a 2-2 game-two road draw with Cerro Porteno, good enough for the Venezuelan club to win their two-match series 4-3 on aggregate and advance to the group stage and a place in Group Eight, alongside Peru's Sporting Cristal, Argentina's Racing Club de Avellaneda, and Paraguay's Club Guarani.

At Manizales, Colombia:

Elias Mendes Trindale scored in the 14th minute for Corinthians as the Brazilian club gained a 1-1 game-two home draw with Once Caldas, more than good enough to win their two-game series 5-1 on aggregate and gain a spot in Group Two alongside defending champions San Lorenzo (Argentina), Danubio FC (Uruguay), and fellow Brazilian club Sao Paulo FC.
