Two games were played on Thursday as the preliminary round for Copa Libertadores group-stage berths concluded.
At La Plata, Argentina:
Leandro Desabato scored twice (12', 50') as Estudiantes easily overcame their series-opening defeat by demolishing Independiente del Valle 4-0 at home in game two and took out the Ecuadorian club 4-1 on aggregate to earn the right to join Colombia's Atletico Nacional, Ecuador's Barcelona Sporting Club, and Club Libertad from Paraguay in Group Seven.
At Montevideo, Uruguay:
Renato Ramos scored what proved to be the series-winning goal in the 37th minute as Palestino, despite dropping a 2-1 game two road decision to Club Nacional, still won their series on away goals with the aggregate score at 2-2. The Chilean club will be joined in Group Five by Zamora FC from Venezuela, Argentina's Boca Juniors, and Uruguay's Montevideo Wanderers FC.
