US Open Cup: Fire, Sounders Advance To Quarterfinals

Two games were contested on Tuesday as the US Open Cup Tournament's Round of 16 commenced.

At Bridgeview, Illinois:

David Accam scored twice (7', 29') in the first half-four as the Chicago Fire defeated the visiting Columbus Crew 2-1 in a battle of MLS clubs.

At Sandy, Utah:

After a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation, which was followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Herculez Gomez, Jordan Morris, Zach Scott, and Erik Friberg each converted a spot kick as the Seattle Sounders ousted Real Salt Lake 4-2 in the penalty-kick shootout on the road.
