CAF Champions League: Algerian Clubs Advance

Five of two-match series in the CAF Champions League concluded Friday.

At Tizi Ouzou, Algeria:


Sid Ali Yahia-Cherif scored the only goal of the match at 36 minutes as JS Kabylie won game two at home 1-0 over Club Africain and took the two-match series 2-1 on aggregate.

At Setif, Algeria:


Five different goal scorers----Lazhar Hadj Aissa (15'), Lamouri Djediat (40'), Mehdi Kacem (63'), Smail Diss (72'), and Mohamed Seghir Ferradji (84')----each tallied once as ES Setif blew out visiting Union Douala 5-0 in game two and took the two-match set 7-0 on aggregate.

At Cairo, Egypt:


Al-Ahly overturned their 1-0 road loss in game one with a 2-0 home win in game two over Gunners, taking the two-match set with the Zimbabwean club 2-1 on aggregate.  Ahmed Shoukry (21') and Mohamed Samir (45') scored for the Egyptian powers.

At El Jadida, Morocco:


A second successive 1-1 draw between Diffa El Jadida (with Ibrahim Largou scoring at 67 minues) and visiting Al-Ittihad (Libya; with Daouda Kamilou's equalizer coming at 73 minutes) in game two forced what turned out to be 30 scoreless overtime minutes before the Libyan club took the penalty-kick shootout 4-3 to advance to the Round of 16.

At Gaborone, Botswana:

Gaborone United rang up a second 3-0 win, this time at home, in game two against Curepipe Starlight and won the two-match set 6-0 on aggregate.
