Copa Libertadores: Scoreless Draw In Lima; Flamengo and Banfield Take Series Openers At Home

Three more two-match series in the Round of 16 in the Copa Libertadores got under way on Wednesday.

At Lima, Peru:

Sao Paulo held hosts Universitario de Deportes to a 0-0 stalemate in their series opener.

At Rio de Janeiro:

Adriano's 64th-minute penalty kick proved to be all the scoring in game one, won by Flamengo 1-0 over visiting Corinthians.


At Banfield, Argentina:


James Rodriguez (46'), Roberto Battion (58'), and Sebastian Fernandez (80') each provided a goal in the second half as Banfield defeated visiting Internacional 3-1 in the opening game of their two-match series.
