Adriano's 64th-minute penalty kick proved to be all the scoring in game one, won by Flamengo 1-0 over visiting Corinthians.
At Banfield, Argentina:
James Rodriguez (46'), Roberto Battion (58'), and Sebastian Fernandez (80') each provided a goal in the second half as Banfield defeated visiting Internacional 3-1 in the opening game of their two-match series.
