A Full Saturday In MLS

Eight games were played Saturday in Major League Soccer as all 16 clubs took the pitch.

At Carson, California:

Jesus Andres Padilla Cisneros (90') scored the insurance goal as Chivas USA picked up their first win of the season, 2-0 over the previously-unbeaten New York Red Bulls at home.  The Goats' other goal came courtesy of Red Bulls goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul (OG-47').

At Philadelphia:

The Philadelphia Union, in their home opener, picked up their first-ever regular-season victory, 3-2 over still-winless DC United.  Sebastien Le Toux scored the Union's first ever goals (5', 40', 80').


At Foxborough, Massachusetts:


Zack Schilawski's hat trick (47', 51', 58') helped power the New England Revolution to a 4-1 come-from-behind home win over Toronto FC.


At Bridgeview, Illinois:


Goals from Arturo Alvarez (49') and Ike Opara (81') carried the San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-1 road win over the Chicago Fire.


At Frisco, Texas:


Eric Avila's late equalizer (90') enabled FC Dallas to salvage a 2-2 home draw with the Columbus Crew.  Jeff Cunningham also scored (PK-29') for the Hoops, while the visiting Crew were represented on the scoreboard by Adam Moffat (52') and Guillermo Barros Schelotto (80').


At Houston:


The Los Angeles Galaxy continued their winning ways with a 2-0 road triumph over the Houston Dynamo.  Edson Buddle (26', 44') scored twice for the Galaxy and goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts registered his third consecutive shutout.


At Kansas City, Kansas:


Kei Kamara scored the only goal of the match (49') as the Kansas City Wizards defeated the visiting Colorado Rapids 1-0.


At Sandy, Utah:


Alvaro Saborio's late equalizer (90') lifted Real Salt Lake to a 2-2 home stalemate with Seattle Sounders FC.  Will Johnson scored at 53 minutes for the defending MLS Champs while Steve Zakuani (12') and Pat Noonan (70') scored for the Sounders.
