Copa Libertadores: Late Goal Carries Estudiantes Into Knockout Stage

The final week of group stage play in the Copa Libertadores commenced with two games in Group Three on Tuesday.

At Quilmes, Argentina:

Juan Sebastian Veron's stoppage-time goal (90'+5) was the only goal of the match as Estudiantes defeated visiting Alianza Lima 1-0 to win the Group Three crown and clinch a berth in the knockout stage.  The visiting Peruvian club had already locked up a berth in the Round of 16.

At La Paz, Bolivia:

Walter Flores (71') and Alex da Rosa (86') each tallied once as Club Bolivar managed to salvage in win during an otherwise dreadful group stage campaign, 2-0 over visiting Juan Aurich.

FINAL GROUP THREE STANDINGS:

1. Estudiantes (GP: 6; GD: +6; PTS: 13)
2. Alianza Lima (GP: 6; GD: +5; PTS: 12)
3. Juan Aurich (GP: 6; GD: -6; PTS: 6)
4. Club Bolivar (GP: 6; GD: -5; PTS: 4)

Estudiantes and Alianza Lima both advanced to the knockout stage of the Copa Libertadores.
