The qualifying round for the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League commenced with the opening contests in four two-game total-goals series on Tuesday.
At Port-of-Spain, Trinidad:
Rodrigo Ruiz scored the only goal of the match at 82 minutes as Mexico's Santos Laguna took game one against San Juan Jobloteh 1-0 on the road.
At Toronto:
Chad Barrett's goal at 20 minutes proved to be all the scoring in game one as Toronto FC defeated CD Motagua of Honduras 1-0.
At Carson, California:
Nicholas Addlery scored twice ( 45', 80') as the Puerto Rico Islanders embarrassed the Los Angeles Galaxy on the road in their series opener 4-1.
At La Chorrera, Panama:
Emanuel Villa's hat trick (3', 54', 71') guided Cruz Azul, runners up in last year's tournament, to a 3-2 road win over San Francisco FC in the opening match.
