Europa League QR2: Count 'Em, Forty Games Played On Thursday

Forty two-game series commenced on Thursday as the second qualifying round for the 2010-11 Europa League got under way.

At Tbilisi, Georgia:

Fernando Neves delivered a hat trick (33', PK-56', PK-64') as FC Banik Ostrava, by scoring five goals in the second half,  demolished FC WIT Georgia 6-0 on the road in the opening contest of their two-game series.

At Atyrau, Kazakhstan:

Linas Pilibaitis (26') and Fouad Bouguerra (88') provided the goalpower that carried Gyori ETO FC to a 2-0 win on the road over FK Atyrau in their series opener.

At Kaunas, Lithuania:

Thanks to goals from Constantinos Charalambides (50'), Helio Pinto (80'), and Gustavo Manduca (83'), APOEL FC are halfway to reaching the third qualifying round after delivering a game-one 3-0 road beatdown on FK Tauras.

At Skopje, Macedonia:

Wandeir delivered the only goal of the match at 87 minutes as FK Rabotnicki edged out visiting FC Mika 1-0 in game one.

At Ta'Qali, Malta:

Terence Scerri's equalizer at 75 minutes enabled Valletta FC to salvage a 1-1 home draw in their series opener with KS Ruch Chorzow.  Wojciech Grzyb's penalty kick at 18 minutes provided what may still prove to be a precious away goal for the Polish club.

At Belgrade, Serbia:

Sergei Kontsevoi's second-half stoppage-time own goal (90'+4) enabled OFK Belgrade to salvage a 2-2 home draw in their series opener with FC Torpedo Zhodino.  The visiting club had just taken the lead earlier in the stoppage-time portion of the second half with Anton Brusnikin's goal at 90' + 2.  The score had been deadlocked at 1-1 after the first 45 minutes, with Igor Krivobok scoring for the club from Belarus at 14 minutes and Milos Krstic equalizing for the hosts just before halftime (45'+1)

At Nova Gorica, Slovenia:

Mikkel Cramer's double (55', 71') helped carry Randers FC to a dominating 3-0 win on the road in game one against ND Gorica.


At Ventspils, Latvia:

FK Teteks held hosts FK Ventspils to a 0-0 game-one stalemate.

At Chisinau, Moldova:

Dinamo Bucharest took game one 2-0 on the road against FC Olimpia Balti.  Cristian Puhac (41') and Liviu Ganea (83') provided the scoring for the visiting Romanian club.

At Anjalankoski, Finland:

Ilari Aijala scored twice in the second half (56', PK-65') as MYPA handily defeated visiting UE Sant Julia 3-0 in the series opener for both clubs. 

At Boras, Sweden:

James Keene (56') and Martin Ericsson (PK-79') provided the scoring punch that carried IF Elfsborg to a 2-1 win in game one against FC Iskra-Stali.  Alexandru Tofan scored what could still prove to be a precious away goal at 87 minutes for the visiting club from Moldova.

At Vienna, Austria:

NK Siroki Brijeg and hosts Austria Vienna battled to a 2-2 draw in the clubs' opening match.  The visiting Bosnian club got big away goals from Wagner (25') and Josip Topic (54').  Roland Linz (50') and Schumacher (57') kept the hosts in the two-game series with their second-half tallies.

At Zestaponi, Georgia:

Java Dvali scored twice (24', 65') as FC Zestafoni dominated visiting Dukla Banska Bystrica 3-0 in game one.

At Vantaa, Finland:

Christopher Jones' equalizer at 58 minutes provided what may still be a precious away goal as Bangor City FC came back to gain a 1-1 game-one road draw with FC Honka Espoo.  The hosts were represented on the scoreboard by Demba Savage at 43 minutes.

At Minsk, Belarus:

Aleksandr Sazanov scored twice (12', 33') as Dinamo Minsk dominated visiting JK Sillamae Kalev 3-0 in their series opener.

At Baku, Azerbaijan:

FK Baki, thanks to late tallies from Sasa Kajkut (77') and Jaba (90'+4), came from behind to overtake visiting Buducnost Podgorica.  The Montenegrin club did get what could still be an important away goal at 38 minutes from Fatos Beciraj.

At Larnaca, Cyprus:

HNK Sibenik took the opening match of their two-game set 2-0 on the road at the expense of Anorthosis Famagusta FC.  Sandro Bloudek (10') and Stipe Bacelic-Grcic (61') provided the scoring for the Croatian club.

At Baerum, Norway:

Stabaek settled for a 2-2 home draw in game one with FC Dnepr Mogilev.  Both goals for the visiting club from Belarus came in the first half, courtesy of Dmitri Turlin (14') and Mikhail Kozlov (23').  Jorgen Skjelvik (22') and Veigar Pall Gunnarsson (53') provided the scoring for the hosts.

At Molde, Norway:

Baye Djiby Fall scored the game's only goal at the death (90'+1) as Molde FK took their series opener 1-0 at home against FK Jelgava.

At Solna, Sweden:

Mate Vatsadze (11') and Levan Khmaladze (87') provided the scoring that propelled FC Dinamo Tbilisi to a 2-1 road win in game one over Gafle IF.

At Lausanne, Switzerland:

Silvio Carlos de Oliveira provided the game's lone goal at 19 minutes as FC Lausanne-Sport took match one at home 1-0 over FK Borac Banja Luka.

At Kalmar, Sweden:

The opening match between Kalmar FF and visiting FC Dacia Chisinau ended in a 0-0 deadlock.

At Luxembourg City:

Tom Siebenaler's own goal at 89 minutes enabled FK Spartak Zlatibor Voda to gain a 3-3 draw on the road in game one with FC Dudelange 03.

At Ghent, Belgium:

Mika Aaritalo scored the lone goal of the match at 32 minutes as FC TPS Turku defeated Cercle Brugge 1-0 on the road in the opening game of their two-game series.

At Sofia, Bulgaria:

Daniel Mladenov (14', 46') and Ismail Isa Mustafa (86', 90'+4) each doubled as Levski Sofia annihilated visiting Dundalk FC 6-0 in their series opener.

At Siauliai, Lithuania:

Thanks to goals scored two minutes apart in the second half---from Pawel Brozek (78') and Piotr Brozek (80')---Wisla Krakow took game one on the road, 2-0 over FC Siauliai.

At Utrecht, Netherlands:

FC Utrecht, with goals from Ricky van Wolfswinkel (8'), Nana Asare (30'), and Dries Mertens (75') demolished visiting KF Tirana 4-0 in game one.

At Brondby, Denmark:

Brondby IF had no trouble with FC Vaduz 3-0 at home in the opening contest between the two teams.  Ousman Jallow broke the game open with two late goals at 80 and 85 minutes.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:

Maccabi Tel Aviv FC took game one at home with FK Mogren 2-0, thanks to goals from Yoav Ziv (49') and Haris Medunjanin (52').

At Istanbul, Turkey:

Nihat Kahveci's double (19', 65') helped Besiktas smother visiting GI/LIF Vikingur 3-0 in game one.

At Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina:

Mario Ivanovic scored twice in the first half (1', PK-20') as HSK Zrinjski Mostar hammered visiting SP Tre Penne 4-1 in
game one of their two-match set. 

At Marijampole, Lithuania:

Rapid Vienna, with goals from Steffen Hofmann (12') and Christopher Trimmel (81') took the opening contest of their two-game set with FK Suduva 2-0 on the road.

At Gyor, Hungary:

NK Maribor gained a 1-1 road draw with Videoton FC.  The Slovenian club got what might still be a precious away goal at 30 minutes from Dijan Mezga.  Gabor Horvath, though, did salvage the opening-match draw for the hosts with his equalizer at 79 minutes.

At Tirana, Albania:

Oscar Gonzalez (19', 30') and Diogo (70', 84') each doubled for Olympiacos as the Greek club ransacked visiting KS Besa 5-0 in game one on the road.

At Motherwell, Scotland:

Motherwell, with Ross Forbes scoring the game's lone goal at 63 minutes, took match one of their two-game set with Breidablik 1-0 at home.

At Madeira, Portugal:

Tcho scored the game winner in second-half stoppage time (90'+5) as Maritimo defeated visiting Sporting Fingal FC 3-2 in game one.  The hosts also received goals courtesy of Ricardo Esteves (78') and Abdelmalek Cherrad (85'), while the visiting club from the Republic of Ireland received what could still be precious away goals from Glen Crowe (33') and Lorcan Fitzgerald (87').

At Belfast, Northern Ireland:

Ciaran Caldwell provided all the scoring with his one goal at 82 minutes as Cliftonville FC defeated visiting HNK Cibalia 1-0 in their opening series contest.

At Portadown, Northern Ireland:

Afran Ismayilov's double (67', 86') enabled FK Qarabag to come from behind to top hosts Portadown FC 2-1 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Dublin, Ireland:

Robert Baily scored a second-half stoppage-time equalizer (90'+1) as Shamrock Rovers salvaged a 1-1 home draw in their opening contest with Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv FC.  The visiting club from Israel got on the scoreboard thanks to Omri Afek's goal at 26 minutes.

At Reykjavik, Iceland:

FC Karpaty Lviv, thanks to goals---all in the second half---Aleksandr Guruli (46'), Andriy Tkachuk (51'), and William Rocha Batista (57')---broke open what had been a scoreless stalemate at halftime and ended up overpowering hosts KR Reykjavik 3-0 in game one.
