The first round of qualifying for the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League commenced with the opening game of each of the three two-match series on Tuesday.
At Dudelange, Luxembourg:
Sofian Benzouien (29', 53') and Aurelien Joachim (51', 90'+3) each scored twice as F91 Dudelange annihilated visiting Tre Penne 7-0 in game one of their two-match set.
At Paola, Malta:
Michael Mifsud delivered a quadruple (10', 18', 45', 70') while Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao added a pair (17', 23') as Valletta scored six goals in the first half en route to an 8-0 demolition of visiting Lusitanos in their series opener.
At Belfast, Northern Ireland:
The opening contest between Linfield and visiting B36 ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
