Seven games were contested on Saturday in Major League Soccer.
At Harrison, New Jersey:
Kenny Cooper scored both goals (43', 58') as the New York Red Bulls blanked the visiting Philadelphia Union 2-0.
At Columbus, Ohio:
Chris Birchall scored the only goal of the match in the 46th minute as the Columbus Crew defeated visiting DC United 1-0.
At Houston:
Macoumba Kandji scored twice (7', 89') as the Houston Dynamo won going away 3-0 over the visiting Montreal Impact.
At Kansas City, Kansas:
The contest between Sporting Kansas City and the visiting New England Revolution ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
At Frisco, Texas:
With goals coming through the courtesy of Hanyer Mosquera (OG-16'), Andrew Jacobson (26'), Jackson Gonsalves (47'), Scott Sealy (69'), and Ruben Luna (81'), FC Dallas demolished the visiting, toothless Portland Timbers 5-0. Not only have the Timbers not won on the road this season (the only MLS club with that dubious distinction), they have now gone a league-record 697 consecutive minutes without scoring a goal away from home.
At Sandy, Utah:
Alvaro Saborio (32') and Will Johnson (89') each delivered a goal as Real Salt Lake blanked the visiting Colorado Rapids 2-0, clinching a sixth consecutive Rocky Mountain Cup title in the process.
At Carson, California:
Landon Donovan scored twice (48', 78') as the Los Angeles Galaxy downed Chivas USA 3-1 in the latest edition of the "SuperClasico." This was designated a Galaxy home game (both clubs share the Home Depot Center).
