Barca On Top Of Spanish Standings; Galaticos Stunned At Home By Levante

Seven games took place Sunday in the Spanish Premiera Liga:

At Madrid:

Salva Ballestia's successful penalty kick at 11 minutes guided relegation-threatened Levante to a surprise 1-0 road win over Real Madrid, spoiling the Galaticos' 1000th game at the Bernabeau.

At Pamplona:

Barcelona was held to a 0-0 road draw by Osasuna. But the one point from the match was good enough for the defending league champs to stay atop the premiera division standings.

At Bilbao:

Goals from Robert De Pinho (18') and Fabrice Pancrate (76') enabled resucitating Real Betis to hold off Athletic Bilbao on the road 2-1.

At Huelva:

Juan Juanma (13') and Florent Sinama-Pongolle (46') provided the goals that lifted homestanding Recreativo Huelva to a 2-1 win over Villarreal.

At Vigo:

Basement-occupying Gimnastic de Tarragona, thanks to Javier Portillo's 77th-minute equalizer, gained a 1-1 road draw with struggling Celta Vigo.

At Seville:

Sevilla blew a shot at moving into first place in the La Liga standings by being held to a 0-0 stalemate by relegation-threatened Real Sociedad at home.

At Santander:

Ezequiel Garay's goal (7') held up as Racing Santander defeated visiting Getafe 1-0.
