Hammers Hammered; Red Devils Stretch Lead Atop Premiership Table


Five games were played Saturday in the English Premier League:

At London:

Jerome Thomas scored twice (34', 80') to help lead Charlton Athletic to a 4-0 home demolition of fellow relegation zone residents West Ham United. Pictured is Darren Bent, who scored for the Addicks in the 41st minute.

At London:

Manchester United, on the strength of goals from Ryan Giggs (29') and Cristiano Ronaldo (88') came from behind to defeat hosts Fulham 2-1 and stretch their lead in the Premiership standings to nine points.

At Watford:

Goals from Manuel Fernandes (23'), Andrew Johnson (PK-25'), and Leon Osman (90') powered visiting Everton to a 3-0 whitewashing of basement-residing Watford, keeping the Hornets from climbing out of last place in the EPL.

At Liverpool:

Robbie Fowler two successful penalty kicks (20', 25') helped Liverpool coast to an easy 4-0 fistbeating of visiting Sheffield United.

At Middlesbrough:

Mark Viduka (7') and Ayegbeni Yakubu (69') scored to help Middlesbrough cool off visiting Reading 2-1.
