CONCACAF Gold Cup: Mexico Demolishes Cuba To Reach Quarterfinals; Costa Rica and El Salvador Draw

Group A group-stage action continued in the CONCACAF Gold Cup continued on Thursday with both games taking place at Charlotte, North Carolina.


In the opener, Randall Brenes' equalizer at 90 minutes enabled Costa Rica to salvage a 1-1 draw with El Salvador.  Rodolfo Zelaya scored at 44 minutes for the Salvadorians.


In the nightcap, Javier Hernandez (35', 75') and Giovani Dos Santos (62', 67') each scored twice as Mexico destroyed Cuba 5-0 to clinch a berth in the quarterfinal round.
