CONCACAF Gold Cup: Team USA Blanks Guadeloupe To Advance To Quarterfinals; Canada Eliminated

At Kansas City, Kansas:


Group stage play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup concluded with two games played in Group C on Tuesday.


In the opener, Luis Tejada's late equalizer (90'+1) lifted Panama to a Group C-winning 1-1 draw with Canada, cancelling out Dwayne De Rosario's penalty kick at 61 minutes.  The Canadians' hope of advancing to the quarterfinal round ended two hours later (see below).


In the nightcap, Jozy Altidore scored the only goal of the match at 8 minutes as the United States locked up a berth in the quarterfinal round with a 1-0 win over Guadeloupe.

Jamaica-Team USA winner vs. Panama-El Salvador winner


The semifinal winners square off in the final on June 25 at Pasadena, California with the winner to take part in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup to take place in Brazil.
