CONCACAF Champions League: TFC, Isidro Metapan, Santos Laguna Take Series Openers At Home

The opening games of three respective two-game series in the preliminary round of the CONCACAF Champions League were played on Wednesday.


At Toronto:


Joao Plata scored twice (56', 72') as Toronto FC defeated visiting Real Esteli 2-1 in their series opener. Rudel Calero kept the Nicaraguan club in the series with his away goal at 80 minutes.


At Metapan, El Salvador:


Edwin Sanchez (65') and Allan Kardeck (87') provided the scoring that carried Isidro Metapan to a 2-0 game-one home victory over the Puerto Rico Islanders.


At Torreon, Mexico:


Oribe Peralta (29'), Juan Rodriguez (PK-61'), and Carlos Quintero (63') each scored once as Santos Laguna defeated visiting Olimpia of Honduras 3-1 in game one of their two-game series.
