Europa League Qualifying

The second qualifying round for the Europa League got under way with the opening games of the 40 two-match series.

At Karagandy, Kasakhstan:

Nikola Vasiljevic scored twice (52', 86') as Shakhter Karagandy took game one of their two-game series with St. Patrick's Athletic 2-1.  David McMillan scored what could still be a precious away goal for the Irish club at 79 minutes.

At Rustavi, Georgia:

Georgi Daskalov's equalizer at 79 minutes provided a key away goal as Irtysh Pavlador gained a 1-1 game-one road draw with Metalurgist Rustavi.  Aleksandr Kvanhadze scored for the hosts at 73 minutes.

At Wroclaw, Poland:

Johan Voskamp scored the only goal of the match at 75 minutes as Slask Wroclaw took their series opener with Dundee United 1-0 at home.

At Belgrade, Serbia:

Juan Martin provided the lone goal of the match at 87 minutes as Olympiacos Volou defeated FK Rad 1-0 on the road in their series opener.

At Kuopio, Finland:

Ilja Venalainen scored the only goal of the match at 16 minutes as KuPS defeated visiting Gaz Metan Medias 1-0 in game one of their two-match series.

At Vlore, Albania:

David Lafata scored both goals (70', 76') as Jablonec defeated Flamurtari Vlora 2-0 on the road in the opening match of their two-game set.

At Tiraspol, Moldova:

Iskra-Stal were held to a 1-1 home draw by Varazdin in the opening game of their two-game series.  Nikola Tkalcic scored at 13 minutes for the visiting Croatian club, while Denys Ponomar equalized for the hosts in the 17th minute.

At Kaunas, Lithuania:

Lex Immers' second-half double (71', PK-82'), combined with Kazimieras Gnedojus' stoppage-time own goal (90'+4), carried ADO Den Haag to a 3-2 game-one road win over FK Taurus.

At Niksic, Montenegro:

Nacer Barazite scored twice (35', 63') as Austria Vienna blew out FK Rudar Pljevlja 3-0 on the road in their series opener.

At Turku, Finland:

KVC Westerlo, with Geoffrey Cabeke scoring the lone goal of the match at the death (90'+3), took game one on the road, at the expense of TPS Turku, 1-0.

At Andorra la Vella, Andorra:

With Pani Balili (6') and Nenad Marinkovic (56') finding the back of the net, Bnei Yehuda took match one on the road over UE Sant Julia 2-0.

At Minsk, Belarus:

Aleksandr Sachivko's own goal at 51 minutes could end up costing FC Minsk as the hosts were held to a 1-1 draw by Gaziantepspor.  Andrei Razin scored at 22 minutes for the hosts.

At Orebro, Sweden:

The opening contest between Orebro and visiting FK Sarajevo ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

At Saligorsk, Belarus:

FK Ventspils claimed a series-opening 1-0 road win over Shakhtyor Saligorsk.  Jevgenijs Kosmacovs scored the lone goal of the match for the visiting Latvian club at 89 minutes.

At Oslo, Norway:

Morten Berre provided all the scoring in game one with his 68yh-minute tally as Valerenga downed visiting Mika 1-0.

At Budapest, Hungary:

Ferencvaros overcame an early deficit to top visiting Aalesund 2-1 ini game one.  Lorant Olah (38') and Liban Abdi (56') each scored once for the hosts.  The visiting Norwegian club remained in the series, though, thanks to Solomon Okoronkwo's away goal at 27 minutes.

At Halmstad, Sweden:

A successful penalty kick at 36 minutes from Mathias Ranegie lifted BK Hacken to a 1-0 home win in game one over FC Honka.

At Larnaca, Cyprus:

Jan Rezek scored twice (35', 71') as Anorthosis Famagusta FC dominated visiting Gagra 3-0 in their series opener.

At Corradino, Malta:

Gonzalo Garcia's hat trick (24', 42', 53') helped AEK Larnaca destroy Floriana 8-0 on the road in game one of their two-game series as the Cypriot club got a massive start on their way to the third qualifying round.

At Tel Aviv, Israel:

With Moussa Konate (22'), Elran Atar (39'), and Guillermo Israilevich (44') providing the goals, Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated visiting Xazar Lankaran 3-1 in game one.

At Llanelli, Wales:


A two-goal performance from Jordan Follows (8', 51') carried Llanelli AFC to a 2-1 home win in game one of their series with Dinamo Tbilisi.  David Odikadze kept the visiting Georgian club alive in the series with his 81st-minute penalty kick which may still prove to be a precious goal on the road.

At Marijampole, Lithuania:


Ricardas Beniusis provided a late equalizer at 88 minutes, enabling FK Suduva to salvage a 1-1 game-one home draw with Elfsborg.  The Swedish club got a goal at 78 minutes from James Keene.

At Ljubljana, Slovenia:


Dare Vrsic provided both goals (PK-45'+2, 76') as Olimpija Ljubljana took their series opener, 2-0 at home over Bohemians of Ireland.

At Luxembourg City, Luxembourg:


The opening match between FC Differdange 03 and visiting FC Levadia Tallinn ended up in a 0-0 deadlock.

At Tirana, Albania:


KF Tirana and visiting Spartak Trnava from Slovakia settled to a 0-0 opening-game draw.

At Oswestry, England:


Rilwan Hassan (65'), Danny Olsen (PK-86'), and Mads Albaek (90'+3) each tallied once as FC Midtjylland got the measure of The New Saints 3-1 on the road in their series opener.

At Vaduz, Liechtenstein:


Vojvodina, thanks to second-half goals courtesy of Aboubakar Oumarou (60') and Brana Ilic (70'), defeated home standing FC Vadus 2-0 in game one of their two-match series.

At Torshavn, Faroe Islands:


Arnbjorn Hansen's late equalizer (90'+3) salvaged a 1-1 home draw for EB/Streymur in match one with FK Qarabag.  Rauf Aliyev scored for the visiting Azerbaijani club at 11 minutes.

At Szekesfehervar, Hungary:


Paksi SE and visiting Tromso IL battled to a game-one 1-1 stalemate.  Magnus Andersen scored for the Norwegian club at 26 minutes, only to see the hosts' Gabor Vayer equalize at 57 minutes.

At Kecskemet, Hungary:


Malick Mane's equalizer at 59 minutes carried Aktobe to a 1-1 road draw with Kecskemet in game one.  Sinisa Radanovic scored for the hosts at 23 minutes.

At Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina:


Mirsad Beslija scored the lone goal of the match (60') as FK Zeljeznicar blanked visiting FC Sheriff 1-0 in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Serravalle, San Marino:


A late tally from Filip Petkovski (86') handed the opening game of their series with Juvenes/Dogana, 1-0 on the road, to Rabotnicki.

At Liepaja, Latvia:


Alan's first-half natural hat trick (22', 44', 45'+1) helped FC Red Bull Salzburg manhandle Liepajas Metalurgs 4-1 on the road in game one.

At Shkoder, Albania:


The opening club between hosts Vllaznia and FC Thun of Switzerland ended knotted at 0-0.

At Skopje, Macedonia:


Metalurg Skopje's series opener with visiting Lokomotiv Sofia ended up as a 0-0 deadlock.

At Belfast, Northern Ireland:


FC Vorskla Paltava blanked Glentoran 2-0 on the road in their series opener.  Roman Bezus (29') and Ahmed Januzi (38') each scored a goal for the visiting Ukrainian club.

At Belfast, Northern Ireland:


With Matthew Briggs (39'), Bobby Zamora (74), and Danny Murphy (PK-77') providing the goals, Fulham got the measure of Crusaders FC 3-1 on the road in the opening contest of their two-game series.

At Domzale, Slovenia:


Duje Cop (41') and Ante Vitaic (76') each scored once as RNK Split took game one on the road 2-1 over NK Domzale.

At Reykjavik, Iceland:


Bjarni Gudjonsson (25'), Viktor Bjarki Arnarsson (51'), and Kjartan Henry Finnbogason (PK-55') each tallied once as KR Reykjavik dominated visiting MSK Zilina 3-0 in game one.

At Hafnarfjordur, Iceland:


Freyr Bjarnason's equalizer at 67 minutes salvaged a 1-1 home draw for FH Hafnarfjordur in their opening contest with CD Nacional.  Edgar Costa scored late in the first half (45'+1) for the visiting Portuguese club.
