UEFA Champions League Qualifying: Shamrock Rovers Among Match-One Winners

The second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League commenced on Tuesday with the opening game of six two-game series.


At Yerevan, Armenia:


Marek Bakos scored twice (7', PK-40') as Viktoria Plzen clobbered Pyunik 4-0 on the road in their series opener.


At Paola, Malta:


Uchenna Umeh (15'), Dainius Gleveckas (22'), and Radavicius (PK-41') each tallied once in the first half as Ekranas held off Valletta for a game-one 3-2 road win.


At Podgorica, Montenegro:


Svetoslav Todorov delivered a road double (77', 79') as Litex Lovech overtook Mogren 2-1 in their series opener.


At Maribor, Slovenia:


Maribor blanked visiting F91 Dudelange 2-0 in the opening contest of their two-game set.  Arghus Soares Bordignon (36') and Agim Ibraimi (45') each delivered a goal for the hosts.


At Bratislava, Slovakia:


Filip Sebo (41') and Karim Guede (81') each tallied once as Slovan Bratislava shut out visiting Tobal Kostanay 2-0 in the opening game of their two-match series.


At Dublin, Ireland:


Chris Turner provided the lone goal of the match at 34 minutes as Shamrock Rovers took the opening contest with Flora Tallinn, 1-0 at home.
