Tomas Martinez scored the winning goal in the 60th minute as the Houston Dynamo defeated the visiting San Jose Earthquakes 2-1.
At Seattle:
Will Bruin scored twice (24', 66') while Cristian Roldan added the game winner in the 68th minute as the Seattle Sounders held off visiting Toronto FC 3-2.
At St. Paul, Minnesota:
Ismael Tajouri-Shradi scored twice (18', 64') and Valentin Castellanos once (16') as New York City gained a 3-3 road draw with Minnesota United in the Loons' opening match at their new home, Allianz Field.
Osvaldo Alonso (13'), Angelo Rodriguez (20'), and Sean Johnson (OG-30') each scored once for the hosts.
At Foxborough, Massachusetts:
Ezequiel Barco scored both goals (29', 49') in Atlanta United's first win of the season, 2-0 on the road over the New England Revolution.
At Frisco, Texas:
Reto Zeigler converted a penalty kick in the 60th minute for the winning goal as FC Dallas kept Portland winless by holding off the visiting Timbers 2-1.
At Sandy, Utah:
Damir Kreilach scored the winning goal in the 55th minute as Real Salt Lake held off visiting Orlando City 2-1.
At Carson, California:
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice (27', PK-36') as the Los Angeles Galaxy blanked the visiting Philadelphia Union 2-0.
At Los Angeles:
Mark-Anthony Kaye (32') and Carlos Vela (90'+4) produced the goalpower as the Los Angeles Football Club blanked visiting FC Cincinnati 2-0.
