AFC Champions League: Al-Ahli, Pakhtakor Advance To Quarterfinals

 At Al Wakrah, Qatar:


The knockout stage (West Zone only) of the AFC Champions League opened on Saturday with two games contested at Al Janoub Stadium.


In the opener, following a 1-1 regulation draw that was followed by 30 minutes of scoreless overtime, Hussein Abdulghani, Lucas Lima, Abdulrahman Ghareeb, and Motaz Al Somah converted their spot kicks as Al-Ahli (Saudi Arabia) took the penalty-kick shootout, 4-3 over the UAE's Shabab Al-Ahli.


Game #2:


Sardor Sabirkhodjaev scored the winning goal in the 47th minute as Pakhtakor Tashkent from Uzbekistan came from behind to defeat Irna's Esteghlal 2-1.
