FIFA Women's World Cup: China, Thailand Grab Thursday Wins; Norway and Germany Draw; Canada Held To Scoreless Deadlock By Ferns

Four games were played in Canada as the FIFA Women's World Cup continued with the start of the second cycle of group-stage contests.

GROUP A:

Both games were played at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the opener, China knocked off the Netherlands 1-0, thanks to Lisi Wang's goal in the opening minute of second-half stoppage time.

In the nightcap, New Zealand held hosts Canada to a 0-0 stalemate.

GROUP B:

Both games were contested at Landsdowne (TD Trade) Stadium in Ottawa.

In the opener, Maren Mjelde's equalizer in the 61st minute lifted Norway to a 1-1 draw with Germany, whose goal came from Anja Mittag in the sixth minute.

In the nightcap, Orathai Srimanee scored twice (26', 45'+3) while Thanatta Chawong scored the game winner in the 75th minute as Thailand held off Ivory Coast 3-2.

Group B Standings:
