Europa League Quarterfinals: Shakhtar, Yellow Sub, Sevill Grab Series Openers; Reds Grab Road Draw With Dortmund

The quarterfinal round of the Europa League commenced with four games on Thursday.

At Braga, Portugal:

Facundo Ferreyra scored the winning goal in the 75th minute as Shakhtar Donetsk took the opening match of their two-game series with SC Braga 2-1 on the road.

At Villarreal, Spain:

Cedric Bakambu scored twice (3', 63') as Villarreal took game one 2-1 at home.  Jakub Brabec kept the visiting Czech club's chances in the series alive with his first-half stoppage-time goal (45'+3).

At Bilbao, Spain:

In the opening contest of this all-Spanish series, Timothee Kolodziejczak (56') and Vicente Iborra de la Fuente (83') provided the scoring as Sevilla came from behind to upend hosts Athletic Bilbao 2-1.

At Dortmund, Germany:

Mats Hummels' equalizer in the 48th minute enabled Borussia Dortmund to salvage a series-opening 1-1 home draw with Liverpool.  Divock Origi scored for the Reds in the 36th minute.
