Another Lyon Victory; Lille Up To Third

Saturday found eight games contested in France's Ligue 1:

At St. Etienne:

Lyon, thanks to goals from Kim Kallstrom (28'),
Tiago Cardoso (37'), and Fred (47'), defeated hosts St. Etienne 3-1 to stretch their Ligue 1 lead to 16 points.

At Lille:

Abdul Kader Keita (16', 34') and Stephane Dumont (19', 46') each scored twice to lead Lille to a 4-0 home fistbeating of Troyes, thus allowing the Mastiffs to climb up to third place in the Ligue 1 standings.

At Valenciennes:

Toulouse fell out of third place following their 0-0 road deadlock with Valenciennes, who in turn, climbed out of the relegation zone.

At Lorient:

Visiting Nice and Lorient played to a 0-0 stalemate.

At Nancy:

Grafite provided the equalizer at 73 minutes to lift visiting Le Mans to a 1-1 deadlock with AS Nancy Lorraine.

At Monte Carlo:

Hosts Monaco prevented Bordeaux from moving into a UEFA Champions League (or for that matter, a UEFA Cup) berth by holding the guests to a 0-0 draw.

At Auxerre:

AJ Auxerre
bested visiting Rennes 1-0, thanks to Ineneusz Jelen's goal at 65 minutes.

At Sedan:

Hosts Sedan climbed out of the Ligue 1 basement with their 2-0 home win over Paris Saint Germain, whose defeat dropped them into the relegation zone. Mansour Boutabout provided the insurance goal for Les Sangliers (74')
