Rangers Tighten Hold On Second Place; Dunfermline Closing In On Safety; Tangerines Stun Jambos

Three games were contested in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday:

At Glasgow:

Kris Boyd's hat trick (8', 25', 31') lifted Rangers to a 3-0 home whitewashing of third-place Aberdeen, allowing the hosts to open up a seven-point advantage for second place (and a Champions League qualifying berth).

At Inverness:

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, cellar-dwelling Dunfermline picked up their first road win of the league season, 3-1 over Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Stephen Glass scored twice (48', PK-79') and Jim McIntyre once (61') for The Pors.

At Edinburgh:

Barry Robson's second-half hat trick (51', 59', 78') helped sparked an offensive barrage that busted open a deadlock game which saw Dundee United bury hosts Heart of Lidlothian FC 4-0.
