Red Devils Stun Reds; Blues Keep Pace

Eight games took place Saturday in the English Premier League:

At Liverpool:

John O'Shea's goal during second-half injury time lifted league-leading Manchester United to a big 1-0 road win over Liverpool.

At Portsmouth:

Goals from Didier Drogba (33') and sub Salomon Kalou (82') enabled Chelsea to stay nine point in back of Manchester United following their 2-0 road win over Portsmouth.

At Newcastle:

Visiting Middlesbrough and Newcastle United battled to a 0-0 draw.

At London:

Goals from Gilberto Silva (PK-51) and Julio Baptista (62') enabled Arsenal to hold off Reading for a 2-1 home triumph.

At Sheffield:

Mikel Arteta's successful penalty kick at 75 minutes lifted Everton to a 1-1 road deadlock with Sheffield United.

At London:

Both goals were scored in the first half as guests Aston Villa and Fulham played to a 1-1 stalemate. John Carew put Villa in front (21') only to see the Cottagers' Carlos Bocanegra tie it up at 23 minutes.

At Watford:

Goals courtesy of Luke Young (67') and Darren Ambrose (89') enabled Charlton Athletic to bounce back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie hosts Watford 2-2 in a battle of two of the EPL's relegation zone residents.

At Manchester:

Caleb Foran tally (18') was the only goal in Wigan's 1-0 road win over Manchester City, pushing the Latics further away from the drop zone.
