At London:
Second-place Chelsea stayed six points off the league lead with a 3-0 home whitewashing of Sheffield United. Andriy Shevchenko (4'), Salomon Kalou (17') and Michael Ballack (58') provided the scoring for the two-time defending Premiership champs.
At Middlesbrough:
Sylvain Distin (61') and Emile Mpenza (74') provided the scoring punch for Manchester City as the visiting Citizens blanked Middlesbrough 2-0.
At Reading:
Two clubs hoping for European play next season, visiting Portsmouth and Reading, battled to a 0-0 draw.
At London:
Goalkeeper Paul Robinson scored from his own half of the pitch (63') to help lead Tottenham Hotspur to a 3-1 home win over relegation-threatened Watford. The Hornets fell back into the bottom of the EPL standings.
At Wigan:
Visiting Fulham and Wigan Athletic battled to a 0-0 stalemate.
At Blackburn:
Second-half goals from Carlos Tevez (PK-71') and Bobby Zamora (75') enabled West Ham United to climb out of the league basement with their first road win of the Premiership season, 2-1 over Blackburn.
