Robinho scored what proved to be the game winner (56') as Real Madrid defeated visiting (and relegation-threatened) Gimnastic de Tarragona 2-0. The victory enabled Los Blancos to climb up to third place in the La Liga standings.
At Seville:
Second-half goals from Frederic Kanoute (PK-52') and Alexander Kerzhakov (90') lifted Sevilla to a 2-0 home win over struggling Celta Vigo and lifted the hosts to a first-place tie with Barcelona (though Barca have the tiebraking advantage of the better goal differential).
At Coruna:
Antonio Barragan's goal (80'), the only one of the match, lifted 10-man Deportivo La Coruna a 1-0 home win over Getafe.
At Barcelona:
In the contest between sturggling Levante and homestanding Espanyol that ended stalemated at 1-1, both goals were scored in the first half. Levante's Gustavo Reggi (13') gave the visitors the early lead, only to see Luis Garcia equalize (19') for the Parakeets.
At Zaragoza:
Real Zaragoza extended their unbeaten streak in league competition to five games as Diego Milito's tally (20') lifted the hosts to a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.
At Villarreal:
Josico's equalizer (59') enabled Villarreal to gain a 1-1 home stalemate with visiting bottom club Real Sociedad.
