Auckland City Capture Local Derby To Lock Up Berth In O-League Final

Group stage play concluded Sunday in the Oceania Champions League.

At Henderson, New Zealand:

Thanks to goals from Matt Friel (68'), Keryn Jordan (75'), Adam McGeorge (79'), Auckland City FC defeated Waitakere United 3-1 on the road to win Group A and earned a berth in the two-match final of the O-League.

FINAL GROUP A STANDINGS:

1. Auckland City FC* (GP: 4; GD: +11; PTS: 10)
2. Waitakere United FC (GP: 4; GD: +2; PTS: 7)
3. Port Vila Sharks (GP: 4; GD: -13; PTS: 0)

*Won Group A and a berth in the OFC Champions League final two-match series.

The final between Auckland City and Koloale FC from the Solomon Islands will begin on April 18 in Auckland with the return match on May 2 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The winner will qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup which will take place this December in the United Arab Emirates.
