The first round of the CAF Champions League continued Sunday.
At Harare, Zimbabwe:
Goals courtesy of Mtulisi Maphosa (14') and Charles Chiutsa (39') lifted Monomotapa United FC to a 2-1 home win over South Africa's Ajax Cape Town in game two of their two-match set and win the series on the away goals rule even with the score on aggregate deadlocked at 4-4.
At Le Tampon, Reunion:
Despite dropping a 2-1 road decision in game two, Sudan's Al-Hilal Omdurman still took their two-match set with US Stade Tamponnaise 4-3 on aggregate. Haitham Mustafa scored the series winner (58') for the Blue Wave.
At Bamako, Mali:
Despite dropping game two 1-0 at home to Tunisia's Club Africain, Djoliba FC still advanced to the second round due to the away goals rule, 2-2 on aggregate.
At Khemisset, Morocco:
Ittihad Khemisset overturned their 3-1 road defeat from game one by winning game two at home 2-0 and, because of the away goals rule, took their two-match set with Ghana's Asante Kotoko. Said Ait Bahi (46') and Rahhal El Khaddouri (81') eached tallied once for the Moroccan club.
At Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso:
Mangoua Kesse's goal at 52 minutes was the only goal of game two as ASEC Mimosas defeated Etoile Filante Ouagadougou 1-0 on the road and the series 2-1 on aggregate. The Ivoronian club advanced to the second round.
