Critical Win For Deportivo Quito; Caracas FC Top Everton; Lanus Eliminated

Group stage play in the Copa Libertadores resumed Tuesday.

Group Five:

At Quito, Ecuador:

Deportivo Quito remained alive in the race for one of the two berths in the knockout stage from Group Five following their 3-1 home win over eliminated Universitario de Sucre. Luis Saritama scored twice (11', PK-60') and Leider Preciado once (PK-41') for the hosts.

2. Estudiantes (GP: 5; GD: +5; PTS: 9)

At Caracas, Venezuela:

Dario Damian Figueroa's successful penalty kick (61') was the only score of the match as Caracas FC blanked visiting Everton de Vina del Mar 1-0.

At Guadalajara, Mexico:

Chivas of Guadalajara were held to a 0-0 home draw by Lanus, who were still eliminated from contention for a spot in the knockout stage.
