Copa Group Stage Play Resumes

Four games were played on Tuesday as group stage play in the Copa Libertadores resumed.

Group Three:

At Asuncion, Paraguay:

Marcos Melgarejo's 90th-minute equalizer enabled Club Nacional to salvage a 1-1 home draw with Universidad San Martin de Porres, keeping the Paraguayan club on life support in the tournament. Martin Arzuaga scored in the 41st minute for the Peruvian club.

At Buenos Aires, Argentina:

Uruguay's Club Nacional held hosts River Plate to a 0-0 stalemate.

GROUP THREE STANDINGS:

1. Club Nacional (Uruguay) (GP: 4; GD: +7; PTS: 10)
2. Universidad San Martin (GP: 4; GD: +1; PTS: 7)
3. River Plate (GP: 4; GD: -3; PTS: 4)
4. Club Nacional (Paraguay) (GP: 4; GD: -5; PTS: 1)

Group Seven:

At Porto Alegre, Brazil:

Goals through the courtesy of Rafael Marques (31'), Maximiliano Lopez (63'), and Rever (81') powered Gremio to a 3-0 home beatdown of Club Aurora. The loss all but officially eliminated the winless and pointless Bolivian club from the tournament.

Group Eight:

At Lima, Peru:

Universitario de Deportes all but sealed a berth in the knockout stage with a 2-1 home win over already-knockout-stage-bound Club Libertad. Ronaille Calheira (28') and Piero Alva (61') provided the goals for Los Cremos.
