Two two-game series in the Round of 16 in the Copa Libertadores concluded on Tuesday.
At Buenos Aires, Argentina:
Despite dropping a 2-0 game-two decision on the road to Velez Sarsfield, with the two-match series tied at three points apiece through two games, Chivas de Guadalajara advanced because of the better goal differential: +1 to -1.
At Sao Paulo, Brazil:
Following a second successive 0-0 stalemate, the two-match series was decided in the penalty-kick shootout, where Hermanes, Marcelinho, and Dagoberto all converted, as Sao Paulo defeated visiting Universitario de Deportes 3-1 in the shootout to advance to the quarterfinal round.
