LEO THE LION HELPS GUIDE BARCA TO LA LIGA TITLE

At Barcelona:

Sunday marked the final day of play in Spain's Premiera Division and Lionel Messi scored twice in the second half (62', 76') as Barcelona won their second straight league title with a 4-0 home brass knuckling of visiting (and now relegated, along with Tenerife and Xerez) Valladolid.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Valencia all qualified directly for the group stage of next season's UEFA Champions League.  Sevilla will be playing in the Champions League's playoff round for the right to go to the group stage.  By virtue of defeating Fulham in the May 12 Europa League final, Atletico Madrid automatically qualified for the group stage of next season's Europa League, while Mallorca will play in the playoff round and Getafe will take part in the third qualifying round.  Valladolid, Tenerife, and Xerez were all relegated to the Segunda Division.
