The semifinal round of the Amway Canadian Championship concluded on Wednesday with two games.
At Montreal:
Goals from Jack McInerney (10', 17'), Jeb Brovsky (47'), and Patrice Bernier (PK-90'+5, which proved to be the series winner) enabled the Montreal Impact to bounce back from their 2-1 game-one road defeat of last week and post a 4-2 game-two home win over FC Edmonton, enabling the Impact to defeat the NASL club 5-4 on aggregate and advance to the two-match final.
At Vancouver, British Columbia:
After the Vancouver Whitecaps, with Erik Hurtado (43') and Pedro Morales (PK-86') each scoring a goal, took game two of their two-match series with Toronto FC 2-1 at home, thus deadlocking the series at 3-3 on aggregate, the series went through 30 scoreless minutes of overtime, then, in the penalty-kick shootout, Bradley Orr, Luke Moore, Dwayne De Rosario, Michael Bradley, and Issey Nakajima-Farran all converted their spot kicks and the visiting Reds won the shootout 5-3 to advance to the final against Montreal.
