Two games were played on Wednesday as the semifinal round of the Amway Canadian Championship commenced.
At Toronto:
Jermaine Defoe (28') and Michael Bradley (89') each delivered a goal as Toronto FC took the opening match of their two-game series with the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1. Kekuta Manneh scored in second-half stoppage time (90'+2) to keep the Whitecaps alive in the series.
At Edmonton, Alberta:
Oluwatomiwo Ameobi (60') and Michael Nonni (90') each scored a goal as FC Edmonton (NASL) came from behind to upend the Montreal Impact 2-1 in game one. Jack McInerney scored for the Impact in the 56th minute.
