MLS: Fire, Caps, SKC, DCU Grab Road Wins; Quakes Hold Off Hoops At Home

Five Major League Soccer matches were contested on Saturday.

At Montreal:

Dom Dwyer scored twice (PK-18', 64') as Sporting Kansas City dominated the Montreal Impact 3-0 on the road.

At Chester, Pennsylvania:

Chris Rolfe scored the only goal of the match in the sixth minute while goalkeeper Bill Hamid saved four shots as DC United racked up their fourth win this season (one more than all last year) by defeating the Philadelphia Union 1-0 on the road.

At Harrison, New Jersey:

Harrison Shipp delivered a hat trick (4', 53', 58') as the Chicago Fire became the last MLS club to win a league game by knocking off the home-standing New York Red Bulls 5-4, despite a hat trick of his own (39', 67', PK-78') by the Red Bulls' Bradley Wright-Phillips.  It was the first match in MLS that saw two players each score a hat trick.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Erik Hurtado scored the only goal of the match in the 37th minute as the Vancouver Whitecaps knocked off the Columbus Crew 1-0 on the road.

At Santa Clara, California:

Cordell Cato (25') and David Texeira (OG-73') provided the scoring as the San Jose Earthquakes, despite playing the entire second half with only ten men, held off visiting FC Dallas 2-1.
