African Nations Cup: Black Stars, Cameroon, Benin, South Africa Advance To Knockout Stage

Four games were contested in Egypt on Tuesday as African Nations Cup group-stage play concluded.

GROUP E:

At Suez:

The match between Mauritania and Tunisia resulted in a 0-0 stalemate.

At Ismailia:

Amadou Haidara scored the only goal of the match in the 37th minute as Mali locked up top spot in Group E by downing Angola 1-0, knocking the Giant Sable Antelopes out of  the tournament while lifting South Africa into the knockout stage.

Final Group E Standings:

1. Mali (GP: 3; GD: +4; PTS: 7)
2. Tunisia (GP: 3; GD: 0; PTS: 3)
3. Angola (GP: 3; GD: -1; PTS: 2)
4. Mauritania (GP: 3; GD: -3; PTS: 2)

Mali and Tunisia advanced to the knockout stage



GROUP F:

At Ismailia:

Benin and Cameroon battled to a 0-0 stalemate as both squads clinched berths in the knockout stage.

At Suez:

Jordan Ayew (46') and Thomas Partey (72') each scored once as Ghana blanked Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to clinch top spot in Group F.

Final Group F Standings:

1. Ghana (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 5)
2. Cameroon (GP: 3; GD: +2; PTS: 5)
3. Benin (GP: 3; GD: 0; PTS: 3)
4. Guinea-Bissau (GP: 3; GD: -4; PTS: 1)

Ghana, Cameroon, Benin advanced to the knockout stage.
