Canadian Championship: Fury Top Wanderers In Halifax In Series Opener; Two Other Game Ones End In Draws

The third qualifying round of the Canadian Championship opened on Wednesday with three games.

At Halifax, Nova Scotia:

Thiago scored twice (23', 35') and Maxime Tissot once (67') as the Ottawa Fury (USL Championship) knocked off the HFX Wanderers (Canadian Premier League) 3-2 on the road in the opening match of their two-game series.

At Toronto:

Omar Browne (62') and Saphir Taider (PK-90'+2) each scored once as the Montreal Impact gained a 2-2 series-opening road draw with York9 FC.

Ryan Telfer (83') and Rodrigo Gattas (88') each scored once for the home-standing CPL club.

At Foothills County, Alberta:

The opening contest between Cavalry FC (CPL) and the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps resulted in a 0-0 stalemate.
