Abdel Omrani scored the only goal of CFR Cluj's series-opening 1-0 home victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 22nd minute.
At Barysaw, Belarus:
Maksim Skavysh scored the winning goal in the 51st minute as FC BATE Borisov held off visiting Rosenborg 2-1 in the opening match of their two-game series.
At Budapest, Hungary:
Davide Lanzafame scored twice (PK-38, 59') as Ferencvaros took the measure of visiting Valletta 3-1 in game one.
At Dundalk, Ireland:
Patrick Hoban's goal at 78 minutes enabled Dundalk to gain a series-opening 1-1 home draw with Qarabag.
Mahir Emreli scored for the Azerbaijani club in the fourth minute.
At Glasgow, Scotland:
Ryan Christie scored twice (PK-44', 65') as Celtic destroyed visiting Nomme Kalju 5-0 in their series-opening contest.
At Belgrade, Serbia:
Richmond Boakye (27') and Milan Pavkov (90') each scored once as Red Star Belgrade blanked visiting HJK Helsinki 2-0 in game one.
At Maribor, Slovenia:
Sasa Ivkovic scored the game winner at 38 minutes as NK Maribor defeated visiting visiting AIK Solna 2-1 in their series-opening match.
