Tomas De Vincenti's successful penalty kick netted the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute as APOEL FC defeated Sutjeska Niksic 1-0 on the road in their series opening contest.

At Eindhoven, Netherlands:

Donyell Malen scored the winning goal at the death (90'+3) as PSV Eindhoven defeated visiting FC Basel 3-2 in their series-opening match.

At Plzen, Czech Republic:

The opening contest between FC Viktoria Plzen and visiting Olympiacos ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
